Why In The Heat Of The Night Should Not Be read In High Schools

In The Heat Of The Night should not be read in high schools. It has too many racial slurs. Also high school students can get the wrong impression about all the black people they know. The most important thing about this book and why it shouldn’t be taught is because students who only read parts of the book get the wrong impression. Also it can make black people feel less important from the white people around them

This book has too many racial slurs like when Sam Woods first picks up Virgil all he could call him was a N____ I don’t like how this word is used so much in In The Heat Of The Night only because my best friend is black as well as some family and if I feel this way other students might be feeling just the same.

Also this book might give students the wrong impressions about black people. The book uses very many stereotypes about how black people killed other people and they take the property of other citizens. When kids skip through the pages of this book they may think about how much they should disrespect black people. It is like students never know how bad they can treat someone until they read the book. I am most sure that some students that were never racist may turn racist just from reading and learning about this book.

Some of the students in the class could be black and reading this book and thinking " wow it’s saying white people are so much better than I am and I’m just a slave. " White students and teachers never know what’s going on in a black person’s head while reading this book in class with other students around them. This book is too dangerous for black students to read and not get upset about it.

Grade 10 Literacy Test

What do you know about the Literacy test?

Well all i know about the literacy test is that you have to take it because the goverment is trying to figure out the way of life with you. Also how you respond to school,ever since you were little you took small literacey test like "EQAO" but there actualy not as importanted as the other test that you are having in grade 10 those are working up to the grade 10 testes.We all think that it is showing are writting process but really it just is showing how much school is or isent helping us.It also is showing them ideas for way to help kids learn at the same pace.


How well prepared do you feel for the literacy test?

Well if you really must know I am scared for this test.Only because I am not actualy good at reading or writting and its going to be very difficalt. I actualy ushauly think I am not up to everyone elses standards, like im not suppose to be here unless I am as good as them at everything.Nobody perfect though and everyone get scared,and there will never be no if ands or buts about anything in life. I am trying to study really hard for this test cause this test is the most importanted test of your life.It show you your future.
